Oxford University Clay Pigeon Shooting Club
How OUCPSC Works
You do not need a gun licence or previous experience to shoot with the club. We provide everything you might need, including transportation to/from the shooting grounds and all the protective equipment.
If you are new to the sport or have only shot a few times, it is required that you attend at least two Have-a-Go sessions before you can join us on our open practices and competitions. This is to ensure safety to you and to fellow shooters, and an absolute requirement. These are small group sessions led by a professional shooting instructor who will guide you through the basics of gun handling, safety, eye dominance, and the general approach to shooting moving targets.
You can attend club sessions as often as you would like – sport or hobby, it’s up to you. Furthermore, you do not need to be a paid club member to attend our Have-a-Go sessions, but you are required to purchase membership if you would like to continue shooting with the club and participating in our social events. If you are an experienced shot, we invite you to attend one practice session before becoming a member.
Sessions
Have-a-Go sessions are catered for beginners and include all equipment, transport, a professional instructor, and 25 clays (targets) and cartridges. Anyone affiliated with Oxford University may attend these sessions.
Open practice sessions are targeted at those more experienced shots who know what they’re doing and include all equipment, transport, and 50 clays and cartridge
We’re anticipating high demand and places are limited so book soon via the link on the term card If you are keen to shoot with us but cannot make it to the sessions currently available, do let us know and we might be able to arrange extra sessions if there is enough demand.
How to Find Us (for sessions)
We will meet in the Iffley Sports Centre Car Park (Map). By car this is accessed by going down Jackdaw Lane, by foot/bike you can use the pedestrian entrance off Iffley Road, and then walk to the car park behind the main building (Directions).
Exact meeting timings will be sent by email ahead of sessions – please make sure you check the email address associated with your PayPal account. Please let us know if you plan on driving to the ground independently, sessions are usually held at EJ Churchill Shooting Ground (EJ Churchill Directions).
Please wear appropriate footwear for being outside in the wet, and bring a warm, waterproof jacket dependent on conditions - we shoot rain or shine! There's no need to bring any other equipment with you.
Sessions must run on time, so unfortunately we will leave latecomers behind.
No refunds are given for no-shows or cancellations with less than 72 hours notice.
